Kumbhalgarh Tourism Guide Mandawa Tourism GuideMandawa is one of the main tourist hubs
in the Shekhawati region of Rajasthan.
It is situated within the district Jhunjhunu. It lies at a distance of 203 km
north of Jaipur. A medieval city, Mandawa was established by Thakur Nawal Singh
in the 17th century. Mandawa is the place where the romantic image of the Rajputs
and the Rajasthani royalty comes to full force. The grand old Mandawa Fort was
built in the 17th century and has now been converted to a luxury heritage hotel.Mandawas
other claim to fame are the painted havelis built by the Marwari merchant class.
The Marwari businessmen in the 18th century started commissioning mural painters
to paint frescoes in their havelis. The result was a delightful amalgamation of
Rajasthani miniature style and scenes fro + more about Mandawa.
